Vortex Optics 20-60 x 80mm spotting scope.

MSRP - 1099

Cabela’s price - 899

Bargain Cave price - 649

It was marked “Damaged - As-Is - No Returns” but that’s ok, because Vortex has an amazing “we don’t care what happened, we’re gonna fix it for you for free” service policy.

The damage btw is cosmetic. Someone was having trouble getting something loose and took a pair of channel locks to it and scratched up a locking ring. It doesn’t bother me and if it ever does, it’ll go back to Vortex and they’ll fix it. As it stands right now, the neoprene cover hides the prior idiocy.

Of course, now that I’ll be able to see where I’m hitting the targets in excruciating detail, I’m going to have to get a lot better at shooting at longer ranges.

Dunno about your store in BC but the store near me is pretty F’ing huge. It’d be amazing to have a store this big as an independent.

I was at the Cabela’s in Hamburg, PA this past weekend and the bargain cave was full of Vortex glass. Most of it was factory refurb, though there was some cosmetically damaged items in there as well. All of it was $100+ off of the usual price, which is awesome. Next time I need some glass (probably when I pick up a CZ527), I’ll take another ride out there and see if they have anything I can use.

It’s decent glass, and their customer service is supposed to be top notch. I’ll still put Leupold or high end Burris on top of my guns where it REALLY matters but I've been very happy with Vortex on top of the toys.
